Westminster Morris Men Loud and Clear

"Can you hear us OK?"

The more observant amongst you may have noticed that we at Westminster Morris have our very own sound crew. Every year, without fail, Unicorn Sound Systems, owned and run by Bill Warder, provides the P.A. at Trafalgar Square.

No matter how things change, Bill copes with it and overcomes the obstacles. There is a 13amp socket at the base of Nelsons Column and for many years, it was live and Bill could plug in there. Then "The Authorities" decided that they had to provide a man to come and switch it on and off for us if we wanted to use it charging £250 per flick of the switch. Undaunted by this, Bill used a generator for a few years. Now "The Authorities" have decided that generators are not acceptable we thought we would have to pay for a "Switch Flicker". Bill had a better idea and constructed a portable and rechargeable power supply.

When Jim, our fiddler is able to join us, he plugs himself into a portable amp. Guess who keeps that bit of kit in working order?

Thaxted

Beyond Westminsters own needs, Bill provides the P.A. each year for the Thaxted Ring Meeting. Before he took on the task, the P.A. was provided by another chap by the name of Wiliam Warder. In short, for as long as the Thaxted Ring Meeting has had amplified sound, it has been looked after by Bill Warder the father or Bill Warder the son.

Available for hire

Unicorn Sound Systems has an impressive array of sound rigs available and the skills to make things sound just right. Having been part of the folk world for such a long time, Bill and his crew understand the wants and needs of even the most demanding Folk performers.

Fancy a dance?

Another string to his bow is Bill's work as a Caller. Working under the name "Folk Disco", Bill has the sound, music and dances to provide an excellent evenings entertainment for both novices and experienced dancers alike.
